A veteran’s faithful dog sleeps by his side every day in the hospital.

You are about to witness the extremely touching story of former soldier Daniel Hove and his dog Gunner, who passed away in just one hour. Daniel was a soldier in the US Air Force, then worked for the fire department, so he was surrounded by danger his entire life.

But there was one danger he couldn’t

defend himself one way or another: He received the devastating diagnosis, of pancreatic cancer.

The disease would spread rapidly and his health would deteriorate dramatically.

His family has always stood by Daniel through it all. His dog Gunner was the one who stayed by his best friend’s side the longest.

This 11-year-old Labrador retriever has not left Daniel’s side since he became ill and has stayed as close to him as possible. It went so far that the family set up a bed next to Daniel’s so Gunner could always be with him.

When Daniel was in the final stages of cancer, the Labrador suddenly became ill as well.

One day, they noticed that Gunner was moving very little and everyone felt that the time was near when the Labrador would die.

Heather, Daniel’s daughter, told local media that the family had to decide with a heavy heart and put Gunner down because they and the vet knew the Labrador would not survive the death of his best friend.

“When my dad was agitated, he was agitated, when my dad was agitated, he was agitated, when my dad didn’t respond, he didn’t respond.”

Shortly after Gunner, the labrador went to doggie heaven, Daniel’s family was shocked to discover that his cancer-stricken owner had also stopped breathing.

“I always wondered what would be more painful for Gunner: putting him out of his misery by putting him to sleep or killing him with the grief of his father’s death. We knew they would eventually leave together, but we didn’t expect it to last only an hour.

Gunner couldn’t live without Dad.”

So the best friends were only separated for about an hour. For Heather, it’s comforting to know that her dad didn’t have to deal with the death of his best friend.
