Having a paralyzed dog or cat is not easy for all pet owners because of their special needs. This is the reason why disabled pets are often abandoned by their owners.

Lunita was a beautiful little dog, but unfortunately, she was disabled and abandoned on the streets of Salta, Argentina. Luckily, one of the employees of the dog grooming salon saw Lunita and felt sorry for her, so the kind person called the rescue organization LUBA Salta. Quickly, two volunteers rushed to check on Lunita’s condition and take care of her.

She was found lying flat on the sidewalk and tied to a railing near a dog grooming salon. Her back legs were attached to a dilapidated wheelchair. Next to her was a diaper bag and a note with her name, age, and an explanation. Her previous owners said they couldn’t keep her and they didn’t even leave her food or water.

They brought her to a shelter and she was placed in a foster home. The volunteers posted her information on Facebook in hopes of finding her a family. Eventually, an American family contacted the organization and offered to give Lunita a forever home.

Unfortunately, all did not go well for Lunita in her new home. The family did not know how to properly care for a disabled dog and ended up neglecting her, which led to Lunita developing a very serious staph infection.

It took a lot of effort and medical care to help her cure-all her ailments. After that, another American family stepped in and gave Lunita a home. With her new family and good health, she became one of the happiest dogs we have ever seen. She was able to play with her canine siblings, run around in a custom-made wheelchair, visit parks, play in the snow, and even attend birthday parties.

Unfortunately, just one month after celebrating her 11th birthday, she became ill and had to be admitted to the intensive care unit at University Medical Hospital, where she once again fought for her life and passed away surrounded by her loved ones.

“I will never forget her and I will never forget what she meant to me,” Lunita’s mother wrote on Facebook. “She changed my life forever. I loved her so much.”

Luna’s story has come to an end and is an amazing example of perseverance. But one thing is for sure, Lunita’s last year of life was the best she ever had. Please share this story with all your friends to pray for this wonderful dog! Rest in peace, Lunita!
