A dog trapped in the tar continued to bark for several hours without help

They kept hearing a dog barking but never imagined what they found. Workers in the Polish town of Suwaki heard something that worried them last week. A dog kept barking from a remote, wooded area in the distance as if asking for help.

Employees called rescuer Joanna Godlewska of the Niczyje Animal Foundation after they were unable to free the tethered puppy on its own. She rushed to the scene, not sure what to expect.

“I was in tears when I finally arrived and saw a dog lying in the tar,” Godlewska told The Dodo. The dog, possibly abandoned, was looking for warmth when it stumbled upon the illegally deposited tar, not thinking that lying in it would leave it permanently trapped.

No one knows how long the dog stayed there, but he couldn’t have lasted much longer. His spirit was fading fast.

Godlewska was helped by a team from the local fire department in his escape. A glimmer of hope appeared in the eyes of the confined pup as they worked.

“He understood that we were saving him,” Godlewska explained.

The tarriest pieces of the unfortunate dog’s fur were gently removed, and the rest was softened with frying oil.

They finally managed to get him out of there.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for lassitude and to have as much of the residual tar removed as possible.

It was a sloppy job, to say the least.

Fortunately, the dog turned out to be in excellent health, except for some minor bruising on one side of his face.

Since then, the dog has undergone many additional washing treatments, each of which has enhanced his wonderful nature.

Mrs. Godlewska said, “He is feeling better and better.

Farcik, the dog, was finally rescued from more than the death trap he was discovered in.

He was no longer alone and unloved.

Farcik still has a long road to recovery, but he is surrounded by people who care about him and his future.

The dog is now looking for a forever home and Ms. Godlewska plans to do so when he is fully recovered.
